Four Letter Word

Happy Sunday all! What a beautiful sunny Sunday it is! Who woke up and needed their coffee fix? I sure did! Luckily we knew exactly where we were going today too! A brand new coffee shop opened up in Logan Square, Four Letter Word. So excited and another reason for me to drag Danny out there against his will, but he has become just as coffee as motivated as me.

Four Letter Word is a Turkish coffee shop located on Diversey, west of the highway. Did not realize this till after we had left the coffee shop, but it is right across the street from Cellar Door Provisions which I have heard is a pretty good bakery! Aside from all that I was overly excited about this coffee shop opening after I heard it was a Turkish cafe because the only other Turkish cafe I have ever been to/heard of in Chicago is Oromo. I AM IN LOVE WITH OROMO! They are vegan friendly and make all alternative nut milks in house. Naturally I have the same high hopes and expectations from this cafe too.

The drive the Four Letter Words is a bit of a hike for Chicago driving, lots of stop lights and with it being early on a Sunday there are all the grocery errand people out and about. So just a mile and a half drive took us about 20 minutes to navigate and to top it off we almost drove past the cafe1 The sign is not easy to see at all.

We made it though and desperately in need of coffee too.  Four Letter Word is a very small cafe, smaller than I think I originally thought and completely packed! A very good sign because it must be great coffee then. The menu s small and very simple, coffee, late or the Turkish coffee. Which unfortunately can only be served is you plan to sit in house, this is because of the way it is served. The cutest little coffee beverage though, serves in an adorable mug and a side of chocolate! Yummy, on a less busy day I will need to come back and give this a try.

The don’t have a plethora of alternative milk options at this cafe, but they do offer Oatly Milk, all about this milk alternative right now. So we both ordered the oat milk latte to go. The baristas are overly friendly and welcoming here, which I love since we were getting a few weird looks from the others in the cafe, think with it being so crowded people were just getting distracted with us standing there, taking pictures and talking. Clearly too loud for this quite and calm coffee shop. We were able to post up at a table right in the front windows, it actually ended up being perfect for us.

Lattes up we hung there for a little longer just taking in the coffee and cafe! It would be perfect place to just relax if there were seats available, the decoration was simple and clean. Danny and I both are obsessed with the light fixture above the the back table! Would love to have that in my house one day.

Oh I am sure you are all waiting to hear what we actually thought of the latte now, it was fabulous! Oat milk I think has become the perfect addition to lattes, its adds a slight sweet, thanks to the oats, without it being overwhelming and without adding in a syrup or sugar. Being as anti fake sugar and overly sweet drinks this is perfect for me, satisfies my craving without drowning me in fake sugars.

I really enjoyed this cafe and would gladly come back to try the Turkish coffee and take in the coffee shop a little more, but it was quite crowded with a lot of onlookers. Would need to find a random day, possibly middle of the week when you can make it here without all the pretentious people looking at you like you have a third eye. Just trying to enjoy some coffee like the rest of you!
