Be Coffee, Food + Stuff was a coffee shop I be;elive was made just for me. It was a pit stop while I was out in Phoenix and it was a perfect breath of fresh air. My trip to Phoenix was exactly a month ago now and a couple of feelings come to mind.
- A slight pain in my heart knowing that that much time has passed since i was last with my family and able to hold my grandpa.
- Frustration with myself that it has taken me this long to finally put that trip down in writing.
Phoenix is a beautifully hot city during the month of June, unless you are crazy I would not really advise visiting during this time of the year. The average temperature was 100 degrees! That is hot my friends, granted it is a dry heat, so coming from the humid Chicago it did not feel nearly as bad as that sounds, but no the less it was toasty. I packed a sweater thinking at night it might be needed since the desert cools once the sun goes down, this was not needed once. It was finally comfortable weather once the sun went down.
Aside from the heat I loved my trip, it was a wonderful time to see family that I haven’t seen in a long time and it was an opportunity to relax and drink some good coffee. It was a quick trip where a lot of things were already planned, but I was luck enough to have time to myself for some coffee! When we flew in Danny and I stayed in downtown Phoenix’s Art District, it was absolutely beautiful! I would highly highly recommend to everyone take some time to explore the area. There are tons of cute little shops, so finding a coffee shop was not hard at all.
So I mentioned we were quite lucky to have time to grab coffee, but it was a rushed endeavor, we woke up at 6am and picked a shop that was close to our hotel we knew would be open at that hour; Be Coffee, Food + Stuff. We literally high the jackpot with this place, it’s part coffee shop, part nursery, part art gallery! Mindblow. The outside looks like nothing special just a storefront on one of the busier streets in the city, but then you walk inside and it’s instantly sensory overload, I wanted to run around and explore every corner of this building, the coffee was on the right and they had a great setup.
The coffee bar was against the back wall with a large community table set up in the middle of the space that could easily sit 20 people. There were also stools along the far right wall for sitting and a couch and coffee table in the front along the window. The vibe was out of this world, I could spend the whole day here relaxing and taking in all the art and plants.
Due to time constraints I did not have the chance to look into the coffee they roast, so when I inquired about their coffee I discovered they rotate their coffee frequently and work with coffee roasters all over the country to bring in a variety of options. Hilariously enough today’s coffee comes from Wisconsin! So I traveled across the country only to have coffee that I could drive two hours to get, oh well, it was still damn delicious! Also on their shelves I spotted some Dark Matter coffee beans, love seeing them in random coffee shops! It’s a great success entrepreneur story!

We ordered two coffee and two cold oats to go! Wish we had time to try some of their breakfast sandwiches, they all sounded delicious, but I know I’ll be back the next time I’m out in the Phoenix, this place was awesome. 
While the baristas where getting our drinks together Danny and I ran off to explore the art gallery that was to the left when you walked in, just look at these pictures. Word can’t do it justice, this place was amazing, they are open for happy hour too so I bet people come here often for some wine and wander around looking at the art. They feature local artists work and they will have shows and events all the time! I would be a regular for sure.
After our delicious coffee we were hitting the road for a two hour drive up to Sedona for a family hiking adventure! This coffee was the perfect start to the day and a good jumpstart of energy we both needed in order to get through the long day we had ahead.
Have any of you been to Phoenix and have other coffee shop suggestions or places you highly recommend? I need to come back and explore more of the coffee out here and hopefully get my hands wrapped around a mug filled with locally roasted beans.
