YAY it’s December 1st! Welcome winter! Best way to celebrate the new month is by decorating and or course checking out a new coffee shop! It’s been well overdue. Brew Brew Coffee we are coming for ya.
Brew Brew is out on Diversey Avenue in Avondale, another new neighborhood that we have not ventured to nearly enough. This one is a bit out there and Danny was giving me a hard time this morning about the drive, it took some time to get out there, but only because we were driving on Diversey and it’s all stop and go with lights. Plenty of Sunday drivers out there too.
Pulling up to the cafe there was a fire truck parked out front with its hazard lights on and blinking. We both were cracking jokes that the cafe had an issue or fire and that after that whole drive it wasn’t even going to be open! Well hilariously enough the fire crew was in the cafe, but not for work. They were here getting breakfast and coffee, clearly you know this is a good place if the firefighters are going to bother coming here. Also, right when they were done and finished their coffee and breakfast sandwiches they jumped in the truck and received a call, cause they shortly after turned on the lights and sped away!
Never a dull moment in the city of Chicago my friends.
But back to our visit! I had investigated Brew Brew just before deciding to come and a time on their menu that really intrigued me was this matcha beverage that they added pistachio flavor too! YUM, that has got to be one of the best sounding drinks of all time. I was really looking forward to trying this. HEARTBREAK: when I got to counter and was akingteh barista about the drink, I guess this was just a aseasonal beverage that they no longer have the ingredients for! Ahh NO! I was devastated, luckily though the barista swooped in with a few other recommendations, adding a bit of honey or coconut to the latte instead.
Brew Brews seasonal menu is seriously on point though, they had a handful of espresso seasonal drinks and even a tea season special! I would gladly drink all of them, I stuck with the matcha but added one pump of coconut while Danny order the Snowflake latte! This was a backup of mine, it has espresso, vanilla and coconut! OMG yum. With better planning this AM I think we should have grabbed some breakfast from here this morning, all their sandwiches sounded and looked amazing! They even had a peanut butter and banana toast option! Like hello, i’m a total sucker for that when I see it’s available. Though I do always feel a little silly ordering that out. It’s such a special morning treat that I will always love!
It did take a while for our drinks to come out, but there were only two behind the counter and one was clearly on the food while the other was just incharge of drinks. We were not bothered by the wait, it was such a peaceful cafe to hangout in. I loved the space and they too were getting into the Christmas spirit with garlin and a mini tree setup already. I would love to come back here one day and work! It’s a very relaxing cafe to sit in.
Another extremely pleasant surprise to this cafe was they brew Passion House Coffee beans! This was actually the other cafe I was considering going to this morning, so what luck that we would happen into a cafe that was already brewing their beans! Passion House I would have to say is my favorite coffee right now too.
Literally both of the drinks were the most amazing lattes I have ever tried! Danny’s was perfect and not overly sweet the espresso showed through so nicely. I’m sure the fact that he added an extra shot helped but it was perfect, the coconut made that drink. My matcha latte with espresso and coconut was also just amazing! I could drink it every day if possible. It also was not overly sweet, I honestly didn’t taste the coconut too much with the match and espresso like I could taste it in Danny’s drink. But still amazing! My new favorite addition is matcha and espresso. TBD if I have a heart attack from caffeine overdose but I am happy with it right now!
Brew Brew Coffee you over impressed me this morning and I will be back very soon to work and try your breakfast food!
